Ugljan, the largest city, with a long tourist tradition and 'situated in nine villages in the north west of the island (Lucino selo, ?eprljanda, Batalaza, Susica, Gornje Selo, Muline, Guduce, Fortostina, Varos) and with so many bays, including Cinta, Mostir and Juznja luka and Muline are the most beautiful. The city and the port, 11 km north from Preko make 1070 inhabitants. The economy is based on agriculture, vineyards, orchards and olive groves, fishing industry and tourism. It is located on the regional road that crosses the island. Many yachts can moor in the inner part of the harbor, while the safe berth for larger vessels is located to the southeast. Ancient monuments, Villa Rustica, late ancient mausoleum, the ruins of a Christian basilica and monumental oil mill dating from the 1st century AD in the Bay of Muline are all evidence of human presence in this area.
