The Blue Flag Delta Marina in Kortgene on Lake Veersemeer is situated between the former islands of Zuid-Beveland, Noord-Beveland and Walcheren in central Zeeland – the region with the most hours of sunlight in the Netherlands. Since the construction of the dam in 1963 (part of the Delta Works), Lake Veersemeer has no longer been subject to the tide. Its banks are shallow and the bottom recedes gradually, so that children can play safely in the clear water. There are easy mooring places on numerous islands, available free of charge. The lovely towns of Veere, Middelburg, Zierikzee and Goes are only a few hours’ cruise from your departure harbour. Vlissingen, Antwerp, and the splendid natural scenery of the Oosterscheldt Nature Reserve, Lake Grevelingenmeer and the Biesbosch Nature Reserve are within easy reach. You can moor along the Veerse Dam and enjoy the clean North Sea beaches on the other side. Zeeland also has much to offer in the culinary department, for example mussels, oysters, lobster, samphire and sole. Tranquillity and space are in abundance here.
