The town of Bar is located between the Adriatic Sea and Lake Scutari, at the foot of Mount Rumija: city of long beaches, subtropical climate with 270 days of sunshine a year. The swimming season begins in mid-May, when the sea temperature reaches 23 degrees Celsius and continues until November. Bar is the largest port in Montenegro, where in addition to merchant ships dock also many passenger ships and ferries that connect with other Adriatic ports and especially the Italian ones. This is a relatively new city, which developed along the harbor during the twentieth century. This is the region of the large growers and producers of olive oil. It can boast the oldest olive tree in the world, born two thousand years ago! This olive tree and the port continues to expand, have become the most important symbols of Bar.
