Cruising the Dalmatian islands  
We chartered a 2023 Bavaria C42 for a cruise among the Dalmatian islands. Base was Marina Zadar, in the centre of Zadar. Access and exit from the berth very demanding as the port has no supervisor or body actively managing it, so the access channels are full of boats (including large ones close to sinking) moored double or triple deep, forcing passage through narrow spaces with constant collision risk. Our boat, named Mojito, also had air conditioning which we greatly appreciated in port with temperatures near 41 degrees. The port is a few minutes' walk from the old town with many restaurants, bars, ice cream shops, markets and a magnificent market with fresh meat and fish every day. Sunturist managers were always kind and kept us constantly updated on the weather via WhatsApp messages. Check-in and check-out were quick and friendly and we could leave our luggage in a safe place when disembarking to enjoy the last day at sea before departure. The outer side of the peninsula where the old town stands offers free bathing areas with showers, small bars and trees for shade. Sailing between the various islands was pleasant but you need to watch out for wasps that invade the boat as soon as you get close to shore. On some islands (Dugi Otok, Brbinj bay and Otok Ist in the town of Ist) we could also buy fresh fish. The boat was very well kept, sails in order, inverter, electric toilets, solar panels and excellent batteries that allowed us never to turn off the fridge, bow thruster and a huge bimini much appreciated at lunch. We complimented the base manager on the outboard: always started first pull and never cut out unnecessarily! Many bays have mooring buoys but watch the costs — normally 5€ per metre. Bays near fish farms smell bad — avoid overnighting there. The holiday was magnificent, thanks to Marenauta, our charter partner for 14 years, and the great work of Sunturist.
