Barca imperfetta ma accettabile con una brutta sorpresa finale  
Il personale della società di charter Istion è stato cordiale e efficiente al check-in. La barca durante l'uso ha mostrato problemi agli scarichi dei WC che hanno reso un po' macchinoso l'utilizzo; le batterie erano esauste e tenevano la carica solo per due o tre ore anche se tenute in carica con la rete 220V per tutta la notte, i fermi degli stipetti erano difettosi come su molti altri Hanse e hanno ceduto navigando di bolina facendo cadere il contenuto ripetutamente. Nel complesso comunque il mezzo si è mostrato all'altezza della navigazione che abbiamo affrontato. Il giudizio di 3 stelle è dovuto alla sorpresa finale. In data 26/05/2026 navigando nelle acque antistanti Serifos, si è verificata la rottura strutturale dei frenelli del timone della seconda barca gemella con cui stavamo navigando l'Hanse 458 "C-Ya"; come risulta evidente dalle foto allegate si è rotto un frenello evidentemente vetusto, un danno causato dall'inadeguata manutenzione. Siamo istruttori di vela da decenni e siamo stati in grado di gestire la situazione e, nonostante ci trovassimo sopravvento alla costa e la barca inizialmente scarrocciasse vistosamente, siamo rientrati nel porto di Serifos. Abbiamo contattato il capo-base di Lavrion che ci ha informato della presenza a bordo dei frenelli di ricambio (lascio a chi legge ogni valutazione su questo fatto) e ha fatto intervenire il tecnico locale che, non senza qualche difficoltà, ha risolto il problema. Abbiamo perso una giornata e pagato il porto per la sosta imprevista. Chi va per mare sa che inconvenienti di questo tipo possono capitare, il timone di rispetto è lì anche per questo. Ciò che non dovrebbe capitare è il tentativo, alla riconsegna delle barche, di far firmare un'assunzione di responsabilità al collega skipper di C-Ya. Il capo-base Giannis Tsirigotis si è mostrato irremovibile e solo grazie al mio intervento deciso mi ha messo in contatto con il suo capo, una signora che si è presentata come "charter manager" di Istion, la quale dopo aver ripetuto che il loro primo interesse è la sicurezza (menomale, se no invece del timone si sarebbe rotto a metà lo scafo...), ha acconsentito a non pretendere l'assunzione di responsabilità da parte dello skipper di C-Ya e mi ha promesso di fare un'approfondita indagine sull'accaduto dei cui risultati mi avrebbe informato. Ad oggi non ho ricevuto nessuna informazione. Gestisco una piccola scuola di vela con 4 barche cabinate e qualche mezzo d'appoggio e, quando è capitato che le unità hanno avuto problemi ho offerto da bere agli allievi del corso e ho consegnato loro un voucher del valore dell'intero corso anche quando il guasto si è risolto in una singola giornata. Ma soprattutto mi sono scusato, senza tentare di scaricare la responsabilità del danno su di loro. Insomma, una figuraccia che ha compromesso la fiducia nel charter Istion; vederemo se sapranno rimediare. PS: ho trovato spiacevole che il capo-base ci abbia fatto lasciare il feedback a Istion prima di informarci del maldestro tentativo di scaricabarile su di noi.

Nautitech problems  
Generally the boat was not up to 9standard. Starboard side cabins bud smells from w.c. to both cabins. Impossible to sleep from the smells. The handling of the boat was somewhat difficult compared to others from our experience. The s/s bar holding the hard top of the exterior sitting area is low at the point of stepping in and out of the boat which as a result most of us knock our head on it two of the crew had a nose swell from hitting the s/s bar. The staff looked after us well and were very friendly and we thank them.
