Blue Istria
Departure Umag - Located in the extreme north part of the Istrian coast, Umag is the most populated town you find when introducing in the Croatian waters, and from here starts our journey towards the south.

Day 1° Rovinj - It takes 22 miles to get to Rovinj. With the mistral blowing, it becomes easy to sail before the wind. The Istrian coast is low and it is necessary to keep the right distance to avoid the rocks, particularly between Novigrad and Vrsar. If the sailing becomes too long, we suggest to stop in Porec (11 miles), in Fontana Marina and Vrsar Marina. Rovinj, castled on a promontory on the sea , is one of the most beautiful istrian towns and represents the typical northern Adriatic atmosphere. Behind Sveta Katarina Island there is the Rovinj Marina.

Day 2° Veruda - The following day, after 19 miles, we reach Veruda. We pass the Brijuni Islands by the side of the open sea, then we sail the Fasana Canal on the way back in order to show you this beautiful archipelago from every side. Veruda is a very well-protected bay and is located to the south of Pula which you can decide to visit by taking the bus. Around Veruda you can find excellent restaurants.

Day 3° Unije (Island) - For the third day we suggest to reach Unije (22 miles). On this island, which is relatively high with a long sand promontory on the east side of the village, you can feel a totally different atmosphere. According to the prevailing wind, you can choose between mooring the ship at the little wharf of the wide bay, right in front of the village, or dropping anchor in one of the deep inlets of the east part of the island. If you opt for the little harbour, consider that the strong mistral here is as dangerous as summer storms coming from the west. In these cases, you'd better go beyond the southern cape of the island and sail towards the excellent shelter offered by Maracol Bay. Don't lose the wonderful bays of this island which in the past has been the agricultural centre of the Cres-Losinj Archipelago. Don't forget, though, that, in the Quarnero Sea, Bura and Jugo are not really pleasant.

Day 4° Osor (Cres Island) - During the fourth day, we leave Unije to sail towards Osor (10 miles). You can enjoy a walk around this town: you can find the town hall, the cathedral and the rests of some Roman walls. In ancient times, Osor was a crucial point on the course between Venice and Otranto. Find a free, after the English fashion, mooring on the coast, in Bijar Bay, in the north of the canal where Cres and Lusinj Islands are linked by a bridge (open form 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.).

Day 5° Valun (Cres Island) - Follow the north direction along the west coast of Cres Island, for more or less 19 miles, until you reach the picturesque resort of Valun, plunged between wonderful beaches and isolated bays, some of them only reachable by sea.

Day 6° Medulin - This day foresees 25 miles of sailing through Quarnero Bay to reach Pomer Marina. If you are not experienced in night navigation, try to complete your journey before sunset because sailing across Medulin Bay represents a great challenge. The Marina is set at the bottom of the long bay, surrounded by cultivated fields which slope down towards the sea.

Day 7° Brijuni (Brijuni Archipelago) - We suggest a visit to the Brijuni Archipelago, national park, approximately 17 miles far away, and to its relative harbour which offers today room for 50 boats, and where Titus once used to moor his yachts. The following day, a beautiful sailing is expecting you to go back to Umag (35 miles); if you wish to stop, we suggest Sveti Andrija (Crveni Otok) Island's little harbour, just before Rovinj (10 miles), or Dajla Bay which is just 5 miles away from the point of derparture.
